Chicago Med bosses Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider have broken down the surprise return of April Sexton in the medical dramas season 8 premiere.

At the end of the episode Ethan Choi played by Brian Tee and viewers alike got a shock when he came across his former love April Yaya DaCosta visiting his late fathers grave.

This is the first time weve seen April since DaCosta left the NBC series at the end of season 6 but Frolov and Schneider have now revealed that this visit isnt the last well be seeing of her either.

While speaking to Deadline about whether April is back for good Frolov responded Lets just say shes coming back and were going to resolve the Ethan/April relationship in a way that we hope will make you dance.

As for whether their time apart was needed in order to bring the pair closer together Schneider added Thats exactly right. They both needed time to grow and change.

Aprils return was one of many cast reshufflings in season 8s premiere episode as we also said goodbye to Guy Lockards Dylan Scott and Sarah Raffertys Dr. Pamela Blake.

Speaking about whether Guys departure was always the plan Frolov added Well we came to the end of his story. We felt that we had told his story in the same way that we told Stevies Kristen Hager story.

This was a story about a doctor who continually had conflict with his history as a cop. And now the death of his girlfriend leaves him really shaken up and it put him on a new path a different path.

This might not be the last weve seen of Dylan Scott though as Frolov also teased But as youve seen with April and some of our other characters just because people go doesnt mean they stay away.
